I am an arts writer and the theater
critic for The Courier-Journal of Louisville, where I've worked as a
journalist for more than 27 years.
My interest in art and literature stems from growing up in a family that
cared about books, food, music and other artistic pursuits.
I am a Kentucky native and a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University
of Kentucky with a lifelong interest in drawing and painting. For me,
the appeal of watercolor as a medium lies in its organic, spontaneous
nature and the way it tells a story with water and pigment. I also enjoy
creating art with pastels, collage techniques and other forms of
artistic media.
My paintings are held in private collections and have been exhibited in
juried shows, including the Kentucky Watercolor Society's national
Aqueous show and subsequent traveling exhibit. My iguana painting is a
past prize-winner in a KWS Aquaventure (formerly Totally Transparent)
show.
